Fire Risk Mitigation to Minimize the Impact of Explosions at the Pacitan Steam Power Plant

Abstract


Background: Explosions and fires are one of the biggest problems in the industrial environment of steam power plants. The purpose of this study is to analyze fire risk mitigation in the Pecitan steam power plant based on the standards of the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 26 of 2008 concerning the Fire Protection System. Method: this type of research is qualitative research with in-depth interviews using triangulation methods to ensure the validity of the data. Results: This research are that fire risk mitigation efforts have been carried out on most of the components of the fire protection system that are functioning properly, but there are several other parts of the components that are not functioning optimally and do not comply with the standards. Conclusion: The implementation of fire risk mitigation at the Pacitan steam power plant is in Compliant with the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 26 of 2008. This can be seen from the fire risk mitigation on light fire extinguishers and hydrants that have been functioning properly, but in the mitigation component in the form of a fire alarm there is still damage to the fire panel control system and mitigation related to fire-resistant buildings and construction is not maintained, so it is not in Compliant with the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 26 of 2008 so that fire risk mitigation efforts are needed to minimize the impact of the explosion.
