Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Effective for issues published from 2027 onward

This policy applies to manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Statistika Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang for publication in issues published from 2027 onward. It sets out the responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers when using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the preparation, evaluation, and publication of manuscripts.

Authors

Authors must complete the Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies section in the manuscript using the journal template. If generative AI or AI-assisted tools were used to prepare the manuscript, authors must identify the tool and briefly describe how it was used.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the entire manuscript, including verifying any text, references, data, analysis, images, or other content generated or assisted by AI. Authors must ensure that AI-assisted content does not introduce inaccurate information, fabricated references, plagiarism, or breaches of confidentiality or third-party rights.

If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in preparing the manuscript, authors must include the following statement in the designated section of the template:

“The authors did not use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in preparing this manuscript.”

Editors

Editors may use AI tools only for limited administrative or language-support purposes. Confidential manuscript content, reviewer reports, author information, or other confidential material must not be entered into publicly accessible AI systems.

AI tools must not make or determine editorial decisions. Editors remain responsible for the evaluation of every manuscript and for all editorial decisions.

Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload or enter submitted manuscripts, review materials, reviewer reports, or confidential information into AI tools. Peer review must be conducted by the assigned reviewer, who remains responsible for the confidentiality, accuracy, and substance of the review.

Disclosure and Accountability

Authors’ AI disclosures must appear in the designated section of the manuscript template. Editors and reviewers must follow the confidentiality and use restrictions stated in this policy. Failure to comply may be addressed under the journal’s publication ethics policies.
