Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scholarly Publishing
Media Keperawatan Indonesia recognizes that artificial intelligence technologies, particularly generative AI tools, are increasingly used in academic writing and research processes.
While these technologies may assist authors in certain aspects of manuscript preparation, they must be used responsibly and transparently.
Generative AI tools must not replace the intellectual contribution, scientific reasoning, and accountability of human authors.
Acceptable Use of AI Tools
Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for limited purposes such as:
- improving grammar and language clarity
- enhancing readability
- assisting with manuscript formatting
- organizing text structure
All AI-generated output must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors.
Prohibited Uses of AI
AI technologies must not be used to:
- generate or fabricate research data
- create false references or citations
- produce scientific conclusions without human verification
- write entire manuscripts without author oversight
Authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including any content generated with the assistance of AI tools.
AI and Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
Authorship implies accountability for the integrity and accuracy of the work, which cannot be assumed by AI systems.
Disclosure of AI Use
If AI tools are used in manuscript preparation, authors must clearly disclose their use in a dedicated section of the manuscript.
Example statement:
During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] to assist with language editing and improving readability. The authors reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for the content of this publication.
Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors
Peer reviewers and editors must not upload submitted manuscripts or confidential materials into AI systems.
Such actions may violate confidentiality agreements and intellectual property rights.
All editorial decisions must rely on human academic judgment.
